Is it Time for Your Annual Comprehensive Eye Exam?

May is healthy vision month. When was the last time you had a comprehensive eye exam? Checking your eyes periodically is one of the best things you can do to make sure your vision remains healthy. During your procedure, your eye care professional examines your eyes, keeping an eye out for common eye diseases and vision issues, many of which lack early warning signs.

The procedure commences with what's referred to as a visual acuity test, using an eye chart to determine how your vision behaves at various distances. The outside of your eye will also be assessed.

After these tests are completed, your optometrist may go ahead and examine your retina using specialized diagnostic technology. This examination really matters, as it will provide crucial information about the state of your eye health, as well as information about your general health. To give an example, it can reveal signs of diseases such as diabetes and also indicate high blood pressure.

You will also be examined for signs of glaucoma. Your optometrist will do this by determining the pressure in your eye, with a small puff of air aimed onto your eye.

Now is the time to take the extra measure for your eyesight. Make your eye health a priority, and schedule a comprehensive appointment today.
